When reading a book, we often ask surface-level questions like: “What’s the main idea?”, “What’s the plot about?”, “Who’s the author?” But what if we could ask more than that? Imagine having the chance to ask the book itself a question—something that dives deeper into its themes, characters, or hidden layers.

For example, instead of asking, “What’s the main message of 1984?”, what if you could ask:
How do the characters’ actions reflect the society they live in, and how might their behavior change if they were placed in a different regime?

Or in A Short Stay in Hell by Steven L’Peck, instead of asking, “What’s the book about?”, maybe you’d ask: If you had a chance to rewrite the protagonist’s journey, how would you change their path to offer redemption or closure?

I’m curious—if you could ask any book one question that gets you deeper into its essence, what would you ask? What questions would you ask to challenge the characters or uncover hidden meanings in the story?
