I'm 17w pregnant, and for fathers day I'd like to get a book or two for my husband to read to bump. Doing this mostly so he can start to connect to bump as in his words, right now he's struggling to even comprehend that we'll have a baby in a few months!
Looking for simple childrens books, not adult books.

I love the board books by Chris Haughton. They are short, and fun to read. Perfect for the type of overemoting narration that kids love. _Oh No George_ _Little Owl Lost_, and _Shhh. I have a plan_ were my kids favorites for years.
lol don’t make him do this, it takes time. But in general he could just read anything out loud that he is already into reading. In 10 weeks or so the baby will actually be able to hear his voice
Let him read the books he likes. You’ll all be forced into the world of board books soon enough. Right now, he can read his tax return or adult smut or the Hunt for Red October, and it doesn’t matter – it’s the act of reading that is important.
Does he want kids’ books or adult books to read?
My husband and I kind of did this, but instead of really little children’s books he read books from his childhood/middle school years. The stories he cant wait to share as our little one grows. One chapter at a time, it made for a much better experience for us both.
He got excited about these books again and that helped bridge the bond to baby in the womb.
Our LO is just over three months old and while we have baby books, they get old pretty fast for us, so we are still spending some time reading our childhood books out loud.
Do what works best for you, congratulations!
I’m firmly of the belief that while reading is super important, what you’re reading doesn’t matter much (yet). So read something that interests the two of you. If you’re both into it, you’ll do it more, which is way more helpful than reading something “age appropriate”
I suggest Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie
*Leave Me Alone* by Vera Brosgol.
