I was never much of a reader when I was younger. I would struggle to focus on the content of the book and start day dreaming, which led to having to reread so much that I would just stop since it felt more like a chore than entertainment. I'm much older now so I'd love to give it another shot, and since I love psychological thriller movies and shows, I figured that's a good place to start. I'm looking for something that maybe a little faster paced and captivating to keep interest up throughout, something with some mind f**k and reality distortion that leaves an impact for a while after. Twists is a must, but not so many that a new reader may get lost or be difficult to follow. Scary is great, terrifying is even better, gross/gore is okay but not preferred. If anyone has any books come to mind please let me know! Thanks in advance!

some that i enjoyed –
1. Lock Every Door by Riley Sager
2. Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough
3. ALL Books by T.J Newman (they are really fast paced)
4. No Exit by Taylor Adams
5. The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle by Stuart Turton

Two “serial killer” type thrillers I read and enjoyed recently with relatively little gore:
The Killing Lessons by Saul Black (serial killer)
Demolition Angel by Robert Crais (serial *bomber*)
I thought both of these were really good!
