Just reread “Some Kind of Grace” by robin Jenkins. any recommendations on something similar? I haven’t felt like that reading a book since forever

I would also be down to read something romantic/ or completely modern literature. Open to other stuff too I don't really care, but I want it to be simple, pretty and not particularly focusing only on happy things.
I also like American literature and nin anais if that helps
