I love fantasy but I'd like to read more characters around my age. I'm not looking for romantasy because I don't want the story to be all about romance and I'm not into smut. Are there any books like this? I'm struggling to find really good ones.

‘Assassin’s Apprentice’/the ‘Realm of the Elderlings’Saga by Robin Hobb.
Honestly, i can’t remember Fitz (the MC)’s age at the start of the saga but he is defo not young by the end (more like 50s, I think). I suspect he is in his 30s at the start but haven’t read them for a long time.
