I really liked The Secret History, Notes on a Scandal, and Yellowface. I enjoy books where the main character or narrator is clearly in the wrong, but still tries to explain or justify what they did.
I like seeing how they think and why they made those choices, even if they’re lying to themselves (or to us). I find it interesting when the character thinks they’re right, even though the reader can tell they’re not. what are some other books like this?

Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov is this at its most masterful
