I just finished the Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula Le Guin and it felt a lot like Dune to me.
Sci-fi fantasy mix with court politics and overarching commentary on society. A space traveling diplomat has to work out an alliance with a native population that strongly differs from what they are used to.
