I’m looking for fiction or non-fiction about women living life alone—either adventure-stye, in nature, or in more mundane settings.
David Markson’s Wittgenstein’s Mistress and Gretel Ehrlich’s The Solace of Open Spaces are a couple past favorites.
Preferably written by women and without a heavy emphasis on self-discovery (like Eat Pray Love); looking more for quiet reflections and stories by about women who aren’t still in the process of redefining themselves without their male parters. (I state this specifically because I feel like most literature in this sub-genre fits this description and I’m looking for something different.)
Thanks!
