We just read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and he really liked it. We're reading Babe the Gallant Pig right now, but I need more suggestions.
Trying to find books with a good story, but not too mature for him. Any good suggestions?

The rest of Roald Dahl? The sequel to Charlie, James and the Giant Peach, Danny Champion of the World.
I guarantee you he will love Jacob Two-Two and the Hooded Fang, generations of us have.
When I was that age, you could not have taken my copy of Harry the Fat Bear Spy away from me. I still have it! Gahan Wilson wrote and illustrated it.
So when she was 5, I read Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass to my kid. It was … a mixed bag.
Lots of antiquated words and puns that kids that age won’t get these days, but she absolutely did love the nonsense humor in it. Laughed and laughed, and then at the parts I thought were actually funny she just kind of stared blankly 😂
It’s worth reading to a kid just to see what humor they do and don’t pick up on, and to appreciate just how much children’s literature has changed.
The Little Tim books by Edward Ardizzone are pretty solid
The bad guys series was a big hit with mine
“The Boxcar Kids” series. I think there are 12 books total. Easy to ready and for little ones to follow. I liked reading my kids a series, because once they are familiar with the characters, it’s easy for them to follow from book to book
Charlotte’s Web!
The Wizard of Oz series by L. Frank Baum.
Marvel published a series of graphic novels in this series, with art from Skotti Young. My daughter loved them so much, we went to meet him at comic con.
James and the Giant Peach, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Go old school. It works!
