As a child, I LOVED to read. I was tested and classified as gifted very young. They said I had a grade 9 reading level at only 5-6 years old. As a teenager, I preferred fanfictions to books. As an adult, now.. I’ve completely lost any passion for reading. I struggle to focus and often have to re-read paragraphs several times to even absorb what I’ve read. ESPECIALLY if there’s noise or conversations happening around me.
I’d love to get back into reading, and I’m hoping that you guys may have tips or suggestions for me that may help re-ignite that interest for me.
Some books I’ve read in the past: Harry Potter series, the Mysterious Benedict Society series, the Twilight series, the Divergent series, the Hunger Games series, The Fallen series, Haunting Adeline, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Night by Elie Wiesel, Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children series, some books from The House of Night series, Skeleton Creek, The Fault in Our Stars, The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants, Goosebumps, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, any “true story” paranormal/ghost books I could get my hands on
Topics I find interesting: I think nowadays I tend to lean more towards non-fiction, learning about the hows and the whys and the nitty gritty details. Some that come to mind are WW2/Concentration Camps, Chernobyl, True Crime, forensics, psychology, potentially LGBT+ themes as I’m a lesbian and it may be easier to relate to (nothing super cheesy though). I’m pretty open minded though so give me whatever ideas you have! TIA 🙂
