I’d prefer if there was scuba diving involved.
I’ve read everything by Nicolas Harvey, Nick Sullivan, Tim Dorsey, Carl Hiassen, Andrew Mayne, Kathy Brandt, Micki Brown, Kate Carson, and I’m looking for more like that.

The Travis McGee series by John D, McDonald set in Florida are classics– The first is The Deep Blue Good-Bye, but you can start any where.
The Doc Ford series by Randy Wayne White starting with Sanibel Flats are an updated series with some similar flavor, It has scuba diving as does The Twelve Mile Limit, everglades and Shark River
Thunder point by Jack Higgins- diving adventure n the Caribbean during WWII
Cab’s Lantern by Jeff Russell the protagonist runs a dive ship in the Caribbean
Stranger Tides by Tim Powers is a pirate tale set i the Caribbean
