I’m looking for something very specific, but I’m sure there are a lot of great options out there… I’m going on a solo trip, and I love having books for company, here’s what I’m hoping for:
1) Compelling—can’t put it down, excited to pick it up
2) No (or minimal) romance or lives of quiet desperation with 2.6 kids in the suburbs
3) Little/no sci fi/fantasy—little twists on reality I can get on board with but aliens and dragons are not my jam
4) Thought-provoking—something that rattles around in your head even after you’ve finished reading
5) No scenes of graphic violence or SA (got surprised by one of those when I was relaxing on a beach once, and that was not what I had in mind!)
Would appreciate any ideas you have!
