I’m looking for a sci-fi novel that isn’t really Sci-fi
I’m interested in reading a novel that is by definition Sci-fi but doesn’t particularly fit any of the tropes. Something that is more based on natural sciences. No outer-space or futuristic tech stuff.
It sounds like you might be more interested in speculative fiction.

_Station Eleven_ – Emily St. John Mandel
Jumps back in forth in time between pre- and post-apocalypse, a strain of the flu has wiped out a huge amount of the population. Nothing futuristic or techy. I think post-apocalyptic fiction is probably a good genre for satisfying your requirements.
_Annihilation_ – Jeff VanderMeer
There’s a weird area in the southern United States where weird things happen and people who are sent in to investigate either don’t come back or come back changed. Very surreal, weird, mind bending, I liked it a lot. Very much focused on the strange things happening to the wildlife.
Philip K. Dick and William Gibson both write a lot of near-future sci-fi with varying levels of advanced technology. PKD tends to be a lot more out there, lots of drugs and weirdness, while Gibson feels more grounded but technology is a primary focus of his.

Hmm. A Psalm for the wild built by Becky Chambers?
