So, about 10-15 years ago I loved the Dresden Files and kept up with them, but then the big gaps in the books being published started, and when the most recent came out, I found I just…didn't care to read it? For no particular reason really.

Looking for a new series to fill the void: preferably genre of some variety (fantasy/scifi/horror), great characters and fun worldbuilding. Doesn't have to slice of life or light-hearted, but I'd prefer no world ending stuff, especially not EVERY book. Romance is welcome, but I prefer the less drama-llama variety.

Series with more than a few books please!

    1. Lois McMaster Bujold- Vorkosigan series. Science fiction. Mostly follows the adventures of Miles Vorkosigan, but some books are about other people.

Start with Shards of Honor, now published with its sequel as Cordelia’s Honor. These are about Miles’ mother.

Also Eric Flint- Ring of Fire series. Modern town of Grantville West Virginia is dropped through time and space to central Germany in the 30 Years War.

    2. Seanan McGuire’s *Incryptid* series is about a family of cryptozoologists trying to protect cryptid from humans and vice versa and *October Daye*, about a half fae, half human dealing with faerie and mundane problems in San Francisco. Both are fairly extensive series, and ongoing.

Steven Brust’s Vlad Taltos books feature a wiseass human living in a city of elves (more or less), making his way by organized crime; wiseass first person protagonist, wiseass venomous miniature dragon sidekick.
