Mmmm I feel like you need a novella series. Novellas can be short but very much packed with lore, plot, drama, you name it. And if it’s a series, you can pick up the next one right away.
Personally my favorite novella series right now is The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. I pick up one and keep going back!

The easiest thing would be to pick a web novel. There are quite a few that are engaging without being too much. One such would be “the calamitous bob” which is excellent . There are many many others
