Can anyone suggest something like the first half of Leech? Gothic horror, sci-fi, post apocalypse, far future, body horror, medical jargon, supernatural? As if The Thing was set in Book of the New Sun. I liked that the wordbuilding felt expansive and refreshing but was also a little bit of a challenge to piece together.
I was SO excited to read it, but the latter half made me DNF. It turned into what felt like YA drama or something completely different than what was presented in the first half.
The Things by Peter Watts and His Black Tongue by Mitchell Luthi are already on my TBR.
