You want a story that tells a story? Like, characters around a campfire? Wizards and Glass by Stephen King. Warning, this book will hurt.

    2. The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez. One of the most unique stories I’ve read. The audio version is also amazing. Read it a year+ ago and haven’t found anything that even comes close since.

    3. Francne Prose Lovers at the Chameleon Club, Paris 1932

Absolutely stunning and delicious! Also based on many truths.

I just finished The Wedding People by Alison Espach and loved the inner monologue writing style.

The Earthsea Cycle and *The Left Hand of Darkness* by Ursula K. Le Guin, *Lord of the Rings*, and Ann Leckie’s *The Raven Tower* is probably the best storytelling I know. That is—these all have the combination of very good writing style and a very interesting story. A number of authors can tell a great story. Sometimes they also have very good writing style, but these are just the best of the best for me.

The Lion Women of Tehran by Marjan Kamali are 2 off the top of my head.
