Hardboiled detective short fiction

Don't they pick the best of writers and make a nice novella/compilation out of it? Gotta love it, and the diversity they offer too.

On the same note, I'm really looking forward to your recommendations of hardboiled detective short fiction… Like those scifi short story compilations of old. It's been a while I have been reading and want to use my time less online and on-books instead. Give me recommendations. Besides the compilations of A. Conan Doyle.
