Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel is a beautifully written dystopian novel that follows the lives of several survivors after a global pandemic. While it might not fit your exact search criteria, it’s more than just a post-apocalyptic story, it’s a love letter to the small, everyday things we often take for granted. It’s moving, thoughtful, and deeply human. After a long reading hiatus, I think this one could really resonate with you.

Edit to add an additional book:

A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles is a beautifully written novel about Count Alexander Rostov, a Russian aristocrat sentenced to house arrest in a grand hotel during the Bolshevik Revolution. If he ever steps outside, he’ll be executed. Despite the confined setting, the story is rich, expansive, and full of charm. It’s one of my all-time favorites! It’s elegant, thoughtful, and subtlety profound.
