    Hey everyone!

I’m an English teacher and I’m looking for books based around mythology and folklore.

I need something a little simpler (ideally shorter than 250 pages) that touch on deeper themes without the gruesome details some myths include.

    Any ideas? Please help!

Everywhere I look seems to be too long or too complicated 😫

You could try A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings by Gabriel Garcia Marquez depending on the age and reading level. And depending on if you can do stories where religious leaders aren’t the good guys

      Rick Riordan books

Shannon Hale and Robin McKinley have lots of fairy tale or folktale retellings

Susan Cooper The Dark Is Rising series—English, Cornish, Welsh mythology

Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull—all the mythology in one (but maybe longer than you want)

The Book of Three series by Lloyd Alexander—Welsh mythology

The Last Unicorn by Peter Beagle

Oh, Brother Where Art Thou is a movie retelling of the Odyssey

Also Two Old Women by Velma Wallis

      (Edited to correct author name)

Yup, first comment is right. You can’t go wrong with the Percy Jackson books by Rick Riordan
