I'm looking for books suggestions based on a project i'm working on.
Specifically, i'm looking for books with large scale action, with consistent lore and epic proportions but also strong/tragic lead character arcs.
Also, it would need to be well written/built as in "innovative/literary" (not necessarily experimental), with a mature tone, grounded.
Most important thing is that the action is truly breathtaking, engaging, like you 'feel' you're there, you feel the tension and the fear and so on.
Think Dune, typically, but with a little bit more emphasis on making you feel tension
I tried Hyperion but couldnt go on reading because it felt too cliched and not adult/grounded enough.
Doesn't matter if it's historical/fantasy/sci fi as long as it meets the criteria.
Does it make you think of anything ?
