Headed to the beach and need some easy going page turners. Most of the lists I've found online seem to be romance, and while I'm not again a little love story, I'd prefer it not be the main focus.
In the past, I've enjoyed Gentlemen in Moscow (along with every other Towles novel), The Martian (along with Project Hail Mary), & All the Light We Cannot See. I prefer my tension to be situational and not a-hole antagonists. I also like my protagonists to be smart and able. Bonus points if the book takes place in a tropical locale.
