I've just been going through some stuff lately and there is a part of the memoir Sickened where the author leaves her family home and gets her own place for the first time and talks about how she had to kind of strip herself down and then build herself back up in a metamorphosis of sorts. It's been 15 years since I read it, but that part in particular has been on my mind a lot recently so I'm just looking for similar books.
Memoirs would be preferred, but accurate historical fiction is also fine.Some examples of things I've read already that hit this mark would be Sickened, The Glass Castle, Tender at the Bone, and The Women.
