I’d love to help but some more details would be helpful. Are there any genres he prefers? Fiction or nonfiction? If you don’t know, what kind of movies does he like?

_Salammbô_ by Flaubert
_White Fang_ by Jack London
_Warlock_ by Oakley Hall
If he’s particularly advanced and/or is interested in the challenge of reading something really big, John Dos Passos’ _USA Trilogy_ would’ve been perfect for me in that timeframe.

These are the books I read as a teenager, so I think these will be good:-
The Ranger’s Apprentice by John Flanagan
Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer
His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman
Code Talker by Joseph Bruchac
The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley
Scythe by Neal Shusterm
Harry Potter by J.K Rowling
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld
Lockwood & Co. by Jonathan Stroud

It depends on what he likes. My kid has always been very into dystopian stuff. When he was about that age he enjoyed:
Neal Shusterman (anything, but especially the Unwind series)
1984
Animal Farm
Lord of the Flies
The House of the Scorpion
Divergent series

What interests him? There are books on every subject out there. Does he like Warhammer? There’s a whole series of those books. Does he like skateboarding? There are books about that. Find things that interest him.
