Looking for a fantasy/sci-fi book with good action/combat

I really enjoy fantasy/sci-fi books, but lately I feel like a lot of these genres of books are centered more around romance and relationships etc… I don’t mind a little bit of that but I’d love to read a book with more combat scenes, or a character progressively becoming more powerful or better at combat over the course of the book/series. If anyone has any suggestions let me know! Thanks
