I just finished reading Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. And before that Cloud Cuckoo Land. And before that, All The Light We Cannot See.
These were all fantastic, moving books. And I feel inspired – but also a little emotionally wrung out. For right now I need something lighter. I’m looking for something well-written but lower stakes. Ideally no murder, cancer, or genocide. Genre is less important to me. Bonus points if available as an audiobook.
Can you all help me out?

Camp Cacophony by Jessica Khoury. Only available as an audiobook.
Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree
Just about any book by John Gierach. He writes about fly fishing but you don’t need to be an angler to enjoy the light hearted books. I loved Fool’s Paradise.
Neal Stephenson first book , Zodiac. Has a protagonist that enjoys what he does so much with such flair and zest that he produces a kind of piratical swashbuckling hero.
I don’t have a suggestion, but just wanted to say woah what a run of books. Cloud Cuckoo Land is one that really stuck with me. It’s been nearly 2 years and I still think about how it made it feel.
Three great, fun books by John Scalzi. Easy reads, light-hearted, and will put a smile on your face:
*Redshirts*
*Starter Villain*
*The Kaiju Preservation Society*
