Hello Everyone! I have a trip to Amsterdam coming up next month and I was wondering if anyone has read any books that are set in Amsterdam that could enrich my appreciation of local culture, customs, history, etc. Disclaimer, I am currently reading The Diary of Anne Frank, since we are planning touring the Anne Frank house. What I am looking for are novels rather than nonfictional histories that take place in the city.

The Miniaturist – Jessie Burton.
Please take a look at The Coffee Trader by David Liss. It’s historical fiction about the coffee trade and really exposes you to the social structure of the time (17th century).
