Examples:
Children of Time – reading this now. It features an intelligent arachnid species. We get little vignettes over a long period of time to show how their intelligence evolved and you can draw a lot of parallels to human evolution. It started out with them having a rivalry and eventually killing off other spider-like species (similar to the theory that Homo sapiens killed off Neanderthals), they develop animal humanely by taming ants to perform specific tasks, they eventually develop massive cities and religion, etc.
Bobiverse Series – one of the side stories involves a sentient drone watching an alien species evolve. They are essentially equivalent to cavemen in terms of intelligence and technology, but like the last book, we get to watch them evolve. Much less technological leaps than Children of Time, but I loved seeing how they developed their own little society and dealt with a lot of the same problems that early humans probably dealt with.
Project Hail Mary – I think this one is self explanatory if you’ve read it.

A Psalm for the Wild-Built: it explores the living, conscious experience of a robot and how it’s different but the same from humans through a friendship between it and a human. It’s very good throughout (very solar-punk) but has a few very poignant moments comparing their lived experiences.
