Below is a list of books I’ve enjoyed to give an idea of what I might like (if you’ve liked the same books and think of something, would love to hear it):
Anything by Wallace Stegner – probably one of my favorite authors. I’ve also exhausted the Japanese fiction available at my library (The Travelling Cat Chronicles – a favorite, Sweet Bean Paste, There’s No Such Thing as an Easy Job, Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, etc.).
Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club was a treat but I don’t have much interest in continuing the series.
Love Claire Keegan’s work – short but very skill fully done and powerful
The Door to Door Bookstore by Carsten Henn was another one I really enjoyed
In the past, I’ve also loved The Princess Bride, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Hobbit, anything by Ray Bradbury, The Joy Luck Club, I Capture the Castle, Jane Eyre, Rebecca, The Neverending Story, Michael Crichton, All Quiet on the Western Front, and the list could go on
Not a fan of books with graphic sex scenes or SA’s – immediately pulls me out of the story. I like a variety of different types of reads so open to hearing what people recommend. Last year for me was filled with slice of life books but I’m wanting work with a little more of a plot now.
