Books about exploring a fantastic and dangerous place, by people who are at least somewhat prepared for it. Bonus points for VIBES.

One book that fit the bill was Annihilation, with area X. The team is trained and well equipped and area X is just super amazing. And the vibes! Oooooh the vibes. That dream like, surreal quality. That book just oozed atmosphere.

Rendezvous with Rama. Exploring Rama had me riveted the entire time. A fantastic place, with secrets and answers and watching as it slowly comes alive. And while nothing was hostile, there was absolutely a sense of YOU DO NOT BELONG.

House of Leaves. The location lacked the beauty of Rama and Area X, and I'm not sure if I liked the book for the story so much as for how the story was told. Even so, the house was really interesting and certainly fit the bill for vibes.
