Looking for your favorite American history books that are not long reads. Like Ron Chernow's books are really highly rated but I don't know if I can commit to something that's 900 pages. I understand that the most detailed books will need more pages to go in depth on a topic, but are there any 300-page books that you think are really good?

Black AF History by Michael Harriet.
Not sure of their lengths but these are all really good. I think they’re all much less than 900 pages – or at least they didn’t feel that long while reading them.
