I picked up book 1 from a charity shelf last week, and as soon as I finished it I ordered the next two. I got book #2 yesterday and finished it today.
Kids are buying me 4&5 for my birthday next week, but the next one isn’t likely to be due out for a few months.

What lighthearted crime books do you recommend?
I’m really enjoying this whodunnit style and would like to find some more like it.

A lot by Anthony Horowitz. His Hawthorne & Horowitz series is excellent, and I also enjoy the Susan Reyland/Atticus Pünd books.

    2. Richard Osman started another series. The first one is We Solve Murders. It’s good!

    3. Elly Griffiths’ series about Harbinder Kaur is a little darker but shares some aspects of the Thursday Murder Club.

*The Marlow Murder Club*, by Robert Thorogood (came out around same time, so not a copycat) is also the start of a good series of books with a similarly quirky set of characters.

*Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers* is another in this vein—very different milieu.

I quite like a less-known series about a wacky group of friends who get involved in crimes that all relate to the history of popular music. The main character is a “vinyl detective” who helps vintage vinyl enthusiasts locate hard-to-find recordings. Each client brings him close to a different music world—jazz, Woodstock era rock, folk, etc. The series starts with, *Written in Dead Wax (The Vinyl Detective #1)*, by Andrew Cartmel. The author has a snarky sense of humor that makes this series less cozy but still kind of comforting to read.

Jana DeLeon Miss Fortune series and Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich are both laugh out loud light mysteries.

    5. Backing up the Vera Wong series (Unsolicited Advice for Murderers and Guide to Snooping On a Dead Man), and adding that in case you didn’t know, the Thursday Murder Club book has been turned into a movie coming out on Netflix on August 28th (the teaser just dropped within the last couple weeks I think?)
