Hey guys, gonna go on a bit of a rant. I'm new to this sub, but I really just wanted to get this out there.

You know what gets me? It's how the books they try to silence are often the ones that stick around the longest. And I don't think it's just because they're well-written (though they usually are). It's because somebody, somewhere, got so rattled by them that they said "nope, absolutely not."

Like think about The Master and Margarita. The Soviets kept it locked away for decades, but people were literally typing out copies by hand and passing them around in secret. Or Their Eyes Were Watching God — nobody had to officially ban it when they could just pretend it didn't exist. And don't even get me started on Persepolis getting pulled from school libraries because god forbid kids learn what actually happened in Iran…

it's wild how these stories keep breathing long after the people who wanted them dead are gone. They're like… cultural nerve endings? touch one and you can feel exactly what makes people uncomfortable.

P.S. If you’re into the way art, politics, and power collide — or just like seeing what slips through the cracks…I wrote a short thing about it. Happy to DM it! 🙂
