Good historical fiction books written by Egyptian authors?

I've been really enjoying the works of Naguib Mahfouz and Taha Hussein, and am looking for good historical novels written by Egyptian authors.

This can include alternate history, magical realism, etc, and does not have to be about Egyptian history specifically, it can be about any period of history.
