I finished Demon Copperhead yesterday and I absolutely loved it. I found a lot of the addiction issues and generational trauma to be very relatable, and have experienced some of the same things that the protagonist went through. I’m itching to read something else that is similar! TIA

I do have David Copperfield on my list already 😉

Divine Secrets of the Yaya Sisterhood has many of the same themes of family dysfunction, generational traumas etc and also set in the south.

Barbara Kingsolver has written many other bangers on other family/community settings as well that are well worth the read, such as Poisonwood Bible and Prodigal Summer.
