I was planning on making this post, and just saw another similar one: "My 11 yo daughter wants more “diaries of people from a long time ago” after reading Anne Frank". While I'll check those recommendations out, are there any more journals/diaries you can recommend an adults?
It can be about anyone or anything, I've always been fascinated about people writing about their own life and thoughts, and their prespective about events unfolding during their lifetime.

Samuel pepys – a fun read
I just finished reading my mad fat diary by Rae earl (there’s also a tv show) which is from a teen girl growing up in the 90s in England
Renia Spiegel. A Polish Jewish teenager during the Holocaust, a few years older than Anne Frank. She’s a super endearing kid, writes poetry of varying quality, crushes on her boyfriend…and she’s the only first-hand account I know of from that setting that’s available in English and experiences both the Russian occupiers and the German ones – her home throughout her journal is **right** on the line that split Poland in half, so she encounters them both.
I’m also fond of Robert Falcon Scott’s journals. You can go to Antarctica with him, and (sadly) watch him die there
Daniel Dafoe – journal of the plague year
