Hello!
So one of my all time favorite books is “The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle” by Avi. I’ve re read it at least a dozen times and, as much as i love it, I’d also love to find some other books that are similar to it to enjoy.
I’ve looked through the author’s other works and nothing seems to quite resonate with me the same as this one does. I know I won’t find a book that has the exact same plot or emotion connected to it- but if anyone has any suggestions for something they think may complement it, I’d love to hear them!
If it helps, what I love in particular about this story is how much I resonate with the MC. Charlotte doesn’t even know she longs for the freedom seafaring gives her until she’s already gone through it. I love her subversion of roles, both in class and gender. And I find her to be a charming narrator throughout.
Anyways, please don’t hesitate to recommend anything! Thanks :3

Back in the day, I loved the Boston Jane series by Jennifer L. Holm
Also used to read, the Bloody Jack series by L.A. Meyer – I only got through the first three books but found it entertaining
