I have found that if I like the way an author writes; I typically like other books by them. This has lead me to read books I wouldn’t picked myself, but I really enjoy them! What are some books you have read that made you want to read more by an author? Or, if you have a favorite author, what would be a good starting book?

For books I have done this with:
    Mistborn – Brandon Sanderson
The color of magic – Terry Pratchett
    Storm front – Jim Butcher
House in the Cerulean sea – TJ Klune

The housemaid by Frieda McFadden. I’m now completely obsessed with her cheesy, quick, plot twist books!

Big Swiss by Jen Beagin was so perfectly suited to my tastes that I immediately read all of her other books, which unfortunately isn’t many. But every book of hers was a 5 star read for me and I don’t give out 5 stars willy nilly.

Doomsday Book by Connie Willis. It is funny, warm, but also thoughtful and emotionally affecting. It also isn’t afraid to pull any punches- it depicts certain things with a gritty realism I was not expecting. After that, I ended up reading everything else she’s written and they are all gems. Just a deeply humanistic worldview that ends up being cozy and compelling at the same time.

My other answer would be T. Kingfisher, both her adult horror and her more YA themed fantasy. I’m not a reader of YA and I don’t really like fantasy that much but her work is so funny and charming that after reading through all her horror offerings (starting with The Twisted Ones) I just kept going and going.
