Books that cover modern American culture that include sub cultures.

Culture can be a rather intricate topic to cover especially when it varies from regions and decades but I'm finding it difficult to find one that covers everything from mainstream culture to subtle differences within subcultures, race, ideology, and regions and how things like dating practices, lifestyles, art appreciation, and moral values are adopted into cultures.

I would prefer that it centers around modern times (year 2000>) but would mind it including more archiac history of culture. It seems many books of culture include mainstream culture only and have very vague information on subcultures.
