I come from a conservative society that I feel completely disconnected from. I don’t follow the religion, I’m not in alignment with our political views, I don’t feel patriotic…etc.
As a result, I’m often lonely and without many meaningful connections.
Are there books, fictional or otherwise, of people who’ve felt like this before?

The Diviners series by Libba Bray. It’s fictional, has some supernatural elements and is set in the 1920s. The cast is diverse and it speaks on racism, classism, ableism. The dichotomy of duty to country and duty to self. There’s a lot there for 4 books and you can tell a lot of research went into it.
Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse
The Catcher in the Rye” by J.D. Salinger
Persepolis” by Marjane Satrapi
