I'm not an avid reader really, but I read nearly every book by Sugaru Miaki. My favorites being Starting Over, 3 Days of Happiness, and Parasite in Love. Please provide me books in a similar vein.
Key things that I enjoyed about them were:
- Taking place in a modern setting with one unnatural twist/event guiding the protagonist forward
- Sort of melancholic feel throughout, but punctuated by a profound sense of love
- Romance between two eccentric/interesting characters
- Not overly verbose. (This is my largest obstacle into reading more)
- I'm completely fine and even happy to read longer books, but I don't have much of an interest when a lot of time is spent on minute details of the setting etc. I prefer something where it's basically just the characters' thoughts and the dialogue between them.
