Personally, I prefer reading physical copies because it feels much more natural. And yes, I have a beautiful guilty pleasure: I absolutely love the smell of books. New books and old ones each have their own unique scent, and I don’t know why, but I really enjoy that.
With physical books, I also like to highlight words or phrases that interest me using a pencil. It just feels so much more intuitive.
However, due to constantly relocating and moving around, sometimes to the point of scratching my nails across my palm out of frustration, I’ve had to adapt. So, while it’s not my initial preference, I sometimes have to rely on digital formats.
Anyway, that’s my take. What about you? Do you prefer reading physical books or using a Kindle?

Both. I’m a minimalist ish so I like being to “have” a bunch of books without having them.
But also I love the aesthetic of bookshelves and I love holding a physical book
Definitely prefer ebooks – i have so many books at the tips of my fingers and can but more in an instant, especially if it’s a series. I don’t need a light, I don’t have to carry anything other than my phone. I can touch a word and get the definition or google search or pronunciation. Saves paper, space, not dusty, not heavy. A million benefits.
Tried a Kindle and didn’t like it. I much prefer physical books.
My eyesight caused me to almost completely stop reading paper-based books. I tried audiobooks but didn’t really like them. My Kindle has revived my love of reading. The adjustable font and backlit screen allows me to read in complete darkness or blinding light. I had pretty much stopped reading before my Kindle, now I’m back to reading 5 books per month
I like some specific editions of books, If I want to collect it, or really loved it. But an ebook is just so much more convenient. Like, I mostly read library books, but using an e-reader means I don’t even have to go there. I don’t really have the space to keep more books.
When reading, prefer physical books.
When moving houses, prefer ebooks.
Paper books
I love reading, but I hate books. They’re awkward to handle (I have one hand; this is definitely more a me thing.) They smell foul. The texture of the paper makes my teeth itch.
I haven’t read a physical book in at least 10 years. Ebooks only for me.
I always preferred physical books. But I read mostly on my phone now and my iPad mini. I like how I have ChatGPT at my fingertips to help with any confusion when I read. Also can readily look up definitions for words. Some great deals on ebooks too.
I like both.
Physical books are my preference, having physical things is really nice, plus something I didn’t expect but have come to love is the smell of books too.
My biggest reason for preferring physical over digital is that I wanted to get a hobby that didn’t involve screens as I’ve been trying to cut down my screen time heavily and reading actual books was a great way to do that.
Interesting points, may I ask which Kindle would you recommend and why?
And, is reading though Kindle provides a much better experience than iPad?
