I’ve got $50 to invest in myself. What book would genuinely help me learn a valuable skill and level up my life or career?
Looking to build a new skill or gain useful knowledge something that could improve my career or life in a real way. Open to any subject as long as it’s practical and impactful.
On the wishy-washy self-help side, I really liked Meditations for Mortals.
Honestly, a good cookbook that’s at your level, whatever that is, is great. Improving diet/exercise even just a little bit makes everything else in life easier.
Job wise that’s tricky. Any skill you can learn in a $50 book alone can be taken by AI-like models. I’m tempted to just say a newspaper subscription.

The Sense of Style: The Thinking Person’s Guide to Writing in the 21st Century by Steven Pinker. Even as a professional writer, this book was revelatory, helping me improve clarity and efficiency in my writing. Good communications skills are always essential.
