Our child is very verbal and has a great vocabulary, but struggles with processing the information when reading.
It makes reading comprehension exercises in school difficult. This became more noticeable as the reading level got higher, starting in 4th grade. They have an IEP but we were very focused on math and mental health issues.
Recently our child called this out as a real blow to their confidence and ability to enjoy reading. I didn’t realize it had become so hard and I feel bad for not picking up on it more. They do sometimes like graphic novels but in 7th there is a higher expectation. Advice and book suggestions welcome. Cat pic for your enjoyment!
