looking for the love from a little life, but a little (or a lot) less of the graphic trauma

I’ve snooped through sections of A Little Life, and I loved the caring, tender, intimate relationships between the characters (particularly Jude and Willem), but it became clear that reading the whole book would be torture, and some of the themes just hit too close to home. What are suggestions of books with profound, loving, trusting relationships built over time (can be platonic, romantic, familial or chosen family) where the book doesn’t have that level of disturbing content? I’m ok with some tough themes/content but a little life is far too much
