It’s always a fine line between books I find enchanting and those I find insufferable. I need them to be a bit more deep than your average airport fiction, or at least not pretending to be deeper than it is. Looking for a book either in English or French.
Books I’ve loved (because they are reflective)
-
The Dutch House by Anne Pratchett
-
Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
-
Ce que je sais de toi by Eric Chacour
-
All the light we cannot see by Anthony Doerr
-
The Unseen series by Roy Jacobsen
Books I’ve hated (because I find they are very surface level reflective/dumb)
-
Hello, Beautiful by Ann Napolitano
-
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
-
Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owen’s
Books I’ve enjoyed (because it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not)
