I am fascinated about history but in particular women’s history, Im trying to look for more books on various women throughout history particularly women of colour. Its ridiculous that women are half the population and there is such little recorded about women throughout history. Please can you recommend history books about women, particularly women of colour.

From my shelves:
* The Story of Art Without Men by Katy Hessel (art history but just women)
* The One and Future Sex: Going Medieval on Women’s Roles in Society by Eleanor Janega (medieval-focused gender history)
* An Illuminated Life: Belle da Costa Greene’s Journey from Prejudice to Privilege by Heidi Ardizzone (fascinating biography of the white-passing Black woman who became the librarian and curator of the Morgan Library and Museum in NYC)
* Wild Swans: Three Daughters of China by Jung Chang (multigenerational family history in China in the 20th century)
* The Woman Who Would Be King: Hatshepsut’s Rise to Power in Ancient Egypt by Kara Cooney (the life of one of Egypt’s few female pharaohs.)
* The Story of Jane: The Legendary Underground Feminist Abortion Service by Laura Kaplan
The Radium Girls (brace yourself it’s a rough ride!)
