kinda “evil” genius mcs, preferably ones that go through character development but they can stay the same too. I don’t care what reading level it is but I’d rather it be fiction or fantasy 🙏
Some examples I read were Artemis Fowl and The Extraordinary Education of Nicholas Benedict, both exactly what I’m looking for

Hmm I’d say the Bartimaeus series (first book Amulet of Samarkand) by Jonathan Stroud would fit this request – YA set in a alternate history London where magicians are the ruling class and they summon and bind demons to do their bidding, the main character really undergoes some serious character development throughout the series
Kvothe in Name of the Wind (unfinished series but worth the read)
Lies of Locke Lamorra and Six of Crows have heist-y smart people, like Oceans 11 but in a fantasy setting
Would you consider sci-fi? It’s fun watching Murderbot progress as a character, though it takes a while to get there (All Systems Red novella is the first). These are likeable, fun books. You could sample the new series streaming right now on Apple+. Enders Game is modern classic sci-fi with a genius teen in a training camp, tasked with “saving earth” from aliens.
