Admittedly, Endurance is one of my favorite books so I bought it for my elderly father while he was in a very dark place. What better to read about than one of the finest leaders any adventurer could ever hope for?
I got a call after having been estranged for many years. He had just been in a blender with his stepwife and the other side of the family, was shipped off away from everyone and became very depressed and broke his hip. Just nightmare stuff.
It made him strengthen and come alive. I think he saw a bit of himself in it.
He hates fiction, at least unless it’s very historically accurate and around a real event, and after he read this, he confessed it was the best book he’d read in his 88 years of life.
So I promised I would find him more quality ways to spend some hours. The problem is I really read a lot of boring nonfiction stuff, so I’d really appreciate the crowdsource help. I, and he too, would be very appreciative!
