Hello! I need a book for our next read in our book club. Their tastes are really out of line with mine. I appreciate broadening my horizons but I also don't want everyone to hate my choice.
They seem to usually read romance or mystery and those are the two genres I never go for. I really enjoy Sci Fi (especially Michael Crichton) and really love odd irreverent sci-fi/comedies like Vonnegut, Douglas Adams.
My first thought was something Terry Pratchett, maybe Mort? I've had Discworld on my tbr for a decade but it obviously seems overwhelming to jump in. I also thought about Project Hail Mary but need the book to be shorter.
Help please!

I think you should pick The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston.
It has a paranormal element as well as a romantic element but it’s not what you might think of as a regular romance. It’s odd but very enjoyable with some humor as well.
